Auditions for Lentfest play

Glasgow Archdiocese’s arts project AGAP is looking for budding actors and actresses to take part in its annual Lentfest play.

Lentfest is now entering its fourth year and brings cultural and spiritual events to Glasgow parishes through Lent.

The AGAP play is always the headline event of the festival and has once again been written by AGAP director Stephen Callaghan (above).

Titled The Turnaround, the play deals with the redemptive power of Faith in everyday life.

The lead character is Adam McClay, a Glaswegian ‘ned’ with a big chip on his shoulder, who thought there was nothing left to live for when he jumped from the bridge into the River Clyde.  Little did he know that his life would be rescued by the sacrifice of a young man, Joshua Davidson, a volunteer from the homeless soup kitchen run by the church.

Faced with the guilt of Joshua’s death, Adam spends his community service among the people Joshua knew and, through a series of encounters, he comes to realise that even the most broken lives are worth saving. The Turnaround is a modern story of hope and the triumph of God’s redemptive grace in the lives of human beings, which parallels our salvation history.

If you are 16-years-old or over and available on Monday and Thursday evenings for rehearsals and willing to take part in a touring theatre production from March 25-April 16, you should consider auditioning. Backstage helpers are required as well as actors.

Auditions will be held at St Michael’s Church Hall, 1350 Gallowgate, Glasgow,  on Thursday January 20 and Monday January 24 at 7.30pm.
