Kinnoull retreat to reopen

St Mary’s Monastery, Kinnoull, is set to reopen this month after more than a year of refurbishments.

by Shannon McGurin

Members of the community have undertaken much-needed renovation work at the popular retreat centre in Perth.

The work included the complete renewal of central heating system, upgrading of electrics in the building and the installation of en-suite bathrooms in 34 of the rooms.

The monastery has also introduced a wi-fi connection throughout the building for the convenience of guests and the building is now available for conferences as well as religious retreats.

The Redemptorists of the Holy Redeemer dedicate their life to a special mission of spreading the word of God.

Their missionary work includes parish and school missions, renewal courses, retreats and staffing five parishes.

The location in Kinnoull acts as the provincial UK residence of the Redemptorist of the Holy Redeemer community.

The monastery has served as a centre for retreats for the clergy since 1870 and became a Pastoral Centre in 1979.

The retreat centre is set among beautiful hills and woodland, easily reached from the centre of Perth.

Members of the Redemptorist community welcome everyone to gather for morning/evening prayer and midday Mass, or simply to come and benefit from some peaceful time and solitude.
