Christmas gift for St Margaret of Scotland Hospice

St Margaret of Scotland Hospice have received an unexpected Christmas gift-a pledge of political support.

Mr Iain Gray MSP, leader of Labour in the Scottish Parliament, has confirmed his party’s commitment to securing the future of the 30 continuing care beds in the hospice. Funding for these beds is vital for the hospices survival

“I am writing to confirm my commitment and that of the Scottish Labour Party to fully supporting St Margaret’s Hospice,” Mr Gray said.

“Should Labour win the Scottish Parliamentary Elections in May 2011 and form the Scottish Government, we will provide the funding necessary to sustain the continuing care beds at St Margaret’s Hospice. This is a matter which has been approved by Labour’s Shadow Cabinet.

“I know that St Margaret’s has a long and accomplished record for caring for people with compassion and dignity. I assure you that we value your work and that the Hospice has a safe future. Our commitment to funding the continuing care beds is absolute.”
