Knights of St Columba Supreme Council this weekend

Delegates from all provinces of the order to gather in Clydebank’s Beardmore Hotel

The Knights of St Columba will hold its annual Supreme Council in the Beardmore Hotel in Clydebank this weekend.

Delegates from all provinces of the order will meet with the board of directors in Scotland to hold elections and make plans for the year ahead over the course of Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Various committees will present reports informing the delegates of advances in recruitment, Catholic Action and the many charitable activities the order has been involved in over the past year, including two years work by the national action project fundraising for Mary’s Meals.

Details of the amount raised for the charity will be announced and work will start immediately on the next two-year project with Missio.

The Knights of St Columba was founded in Glasgow in 1919 and quickly spread throughout Mainland Britain and the Channel Islands, to become the leading organisation for Catholic laymen.

The order, which was founded on the precepts of Charity, Unity and Fraternity, is a founder member of the International Alliance of Catholic Knights (IACK), which has members in 27 countries throughout the world.
