Perth Catholics enjoy pilgrimage to Santiago De Compostela

Pilgrims from Perth arrived in Santiago de Compostela in time for the Feast of St James the Apostle as the Perth Catholic Youth Project, led by Frankie McGuire, were joined by a group of 12 parishioners and friends of St John the Baptist’s parish in Perth, and their parish priest, Fr Tom Shields.

The group had set off from Sarria eight days earlier, to walk the final 70 miles of the traditional pilgrimage route from the south of France known as the Camiño Francés. Their ultimate destination was the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela and the Shrine of St James, where the remains of the Apostle are contained in a silver casket.
