Blairs Museum stars on the Antiques Roadshow

The remarkable Catholic Collection in in the former seminary in Aberdeenshire will be featured on television tomorrow as the BBC show the Antiques Roadshow shines a light on its treasures.

The show, airing tomorrow, is focused on some of the most special items at the museum which is located in the former seminary.

Museum Manager Ian Forbes, said the call from the programme had come ‘out of the blue’ and they had visited last summer.

“They concentrated on items likes the memorial portrait of Mary Queen of Scots,” he said. “And the three items contacted to Bonnie Prince Charlie, his watch with the enamel portrait of his daughter, his snuff box and the ring that contains a lock of his hair.”

Mr Forbes is hopeful the show will make more people aware of the museum and it’s treasures.

“That’s the whole reason for letting the cameras in, to raise awareness” he said. “ And it’s good timing because from the March 31 we’re open on Saturdays, Sundays and bank holidays from 2 until 5, until the end of October. Though of course we’re also open by appointment at other times.”
