8-BUNGEE-JUMP

Get this pro-life show on the road

The PROJECT TRUTH team is working closely with SPUC SCOTLAND on up coming life events this summer specifically targeted at young Scots. The Project Youth Roadshow is likely to be coming to a town near you with the help of Youth Defence and the Alliance of Pro-Life students. The Glasgow rally after the roadshow is another highlight of 2014

SPUC Scotland is actively supporting a number of upcoming events to make sure the pro-life message is heard throughout the country this summer. Exciting highlights include the Project Truth Roadshow, with fundraising well underway, and a youth rally. The success of the events, however, depends in a large part on participation so we are hoping for a large turnout and lots of support. These are great opportunities to get together with like minded people, keep up-to-date with the issues—including up coming challenges—and send out a clear message of support for the pro-life movement.

Project Truth Roadshow

You can join the Project Truth team in Scotland for the first ever pro-life roadshow across the country!

The roadshow takes place from Sunday August 10-16 and is open to anyone between the ages of 18 and 30. We hope to gather a strong team of 30 young people, from all across the UK, Ireland and even further afield!

The event will be of great interest to anyone who is passionate about bringing the pro-life message to the public, who wants to learn more about pro-life apologetics, deepen their convictions on these issues and meet other young people who are passionate about the pro-life cause. And all while visiting the beautiful towns and cities of Scotland and having a blast— so this event could be for you!

During the roadshow week, organisers will aim to reach at least six cities throughout Scotland, including Glasgow, Edinburgh, Dundee, Perth and Aberdeen, spending several hours in each town.

In every city or town we visit, we will be there to do pro-life street outreach work. We are modelling our roadshow on the same one that Youth Defence runs each summer which gathers up to 50 young people. We hope to have some of their team join us, as well as some young people from the Alliance of Pro-Life Students.

We are working hard at SPUC Scotland to cover the cost of this event, because the most important thing is that young people are able to attend for free. The total cost of running the roadshow will be around £8000, which will cover all the material we will use, accommodation for six nights, travel between cities, plus breakfast and dinner for each participant. We will raise most of this money through fundraising and are also asking for a donation of £50 from each participant who travels with the roadshow throughout the week to help.

On Saturday May 10, Chris Jones from the Project Truth team too part in a bungee jumping for life, as reported in the SCO.

Chris has been part of the Project Truth team since it began last year and he very kindly volunteered to do the sponsored event, because this is a cause that is close to his heart and he wants to help us spread the pro-life message across Scotland.

“This roadshow will bring up to 30 young pro-lifers together from across Scotland, England and Ireland—spreading the pro-life message and strengthening the pro-life youth movement at the same time,” Chris said.

Roadshow participants are welcome to come for one day, two days, or the whole project. Project Truth may well be passing through your city or town, so please listen out for details and join us on the day! We have flyers available to help advertise the roadshow, if you would like some sent to you please drop me an email at the address given below

Youth rally

SPUC Scotland is also supporting an event on Saturday August 16 from 3pm to 6pm at Glasgow Catholic Chaplaincy

This event will be a culmination of the roadshow and also a separate event for those who could not attend the roadshow.

The event is open to all aged between 16 and 30. We will have guest speakers from Youth Defence in Ireland and the Alliance of Pro-Life Students.

As well as these inspiring pro-life activists, we will hear the story of Catherine Macmillan, who three years ago, faced a crisis pregnancy with great courage. Catherine is a young single mum, to a severely disabled little girl called Sara.

Her story and the love that she has for her daughter will undoubtedly move and inspire all those present.

This event costs £5 and includes tea, coffee and snacks.
