Sharing Faith stories at St Ninian’s High School in Giffnock
More than 300 S3 pupils from St Ninian’s High School, Giffnock, recently enjoyed a Faith-based retreat, guided by members of the Craig Lodge House of Prayer in Dalmally.
The Craig Lodge team visited St Ninian’s for three days to share their Faith stories with the pupils and helping them answer questions they have about the Catholic Church and its teachings.
Nicky Lynas, from the Craig Lodge community, explained that the retreat was aimed at helping young people find out more about their Faith, especially at an age ‘when they are beginning to ask questions about Church teaching’ and how this teaching can often conflict with what they are hearing and seeing through the media.
“The pupils were keen to have more of an insight into their Faith and their questions showed a genuine interest,” Ms Lynas said. “They asked about why there is suffering in the world and the Church’s teaching on marriage.”
The S3 pupils were split into groups, each spending half a day with the Craig Lodge team. The pupils participated in drama and watched a film, Most, which was aimed at furthering their understanding of sacrifice.
The Craig Lodge team also shared their own faith stories with the pupils and joined them in prayer and Adoration.
“The pupils all participated very well in Adoration and prayers,” Ms Lynas said.
Following the visit to St Ninian’s the Craig Lodge community began its preparations for the next school retreat, which was hosted at Notre Dame High School, Greenock.
The community is also hosting a youth retreat for young people aged 11-14, which will take place at the Craig Lodge House of Prayer, Dalmally on the weekend of February 17-19
