Susan Boyle backs SCIAF’s Wee Box for Ethiopia

Scottish singing sensation Susan Boyle has revealed she will be giving up chocolate for Lent this year, and donating the money saved to SCIAF’s Wee Box appeal which will be officially launched tomorrow, Ash Wednesday.

Ms Boyle is backing the Scottish Catholic International Aid Fund’s appeal once again. This year’s campaign will help support pastoralists in one of the world’s poorest countries, Ethiopia. All donations made by May 4 will be doubled by the UK Government Aid Match for the second year in a row, following its success in the charity’s 50th anniversary year.

“I have been supporting SCIAF all my life because I know they help the poorest of the poor to have food and support themselves,” the singer said. “This year, every donation to the Wee Box appeal is being doubled by the UK Government, so I hope everyone will put out all the stops to help.”

Others Scottish celebrities who are backing year’s appeal will be revealed at tomorrow’s launch in Glasgow.
