Uddingston parish mission brings top speakers to Motherwell Diocese

St John the Baptist, Uddingston, is holding events next week from May 5 to 8, with a special afternoon open to all clergy and religious on Wednesday

St John the Baptist, Uddingston, (above) is holding special events for its parishioners and priests from arround the diocese and beyond next week as part of a parish mission.

Parish Priest Fr Dominic Towey will welcome Irish priest Fr Kevin Scallon and Sr Briege McKenna to St John the Baptist, for the mission which will run from May 5-8, with a special event open at all Catholic clergy and religious on Wednesday

Fr Scallon, CM, is a priest of the Vincentian Community who was born in Ireland. In his early years he ministered in both England and Nigeria. In 1976, while on the faculty of All Hallows College, started the Intercession for Priests in Ireland. Since then he, along with Sr McKenna, has been ministering to priests and lay people across the globe.

A special invitation is extended to all clergy and religious who can make it along to attend the parish mission on Wednesday May 7 at 2pm.

“The media has been quick to pick up on any negative news in our diocese in the recent past,” Fr Towey told the SCO. “This event, the bigest of its kind in our parish, is something very positive.”
