Tune in for daily prayer

Scottish Radio station for Christians goes live on Friday

A new internet-based radio station for Scottish Christians is set to go live on Friday.

Radio Alba, which will give listeners the opportunity to share in morning prayer, springs from Glasgow Archdiocesan Music Committee’s wish to ‘promote liturgical prayer and to give another dimension to religious celebrations.’

Initially, the station will broadcast on an events basis, with the first live-show planned for November 30, the feast day of Scotland’s patron saint.

From this Friday, however, the station will offer morning prayer at 8am, repeated on the hour until 11am. A schools’ morning prayer will also be aired at 9.15am each morning.

As well as providing an opportunity for short reflections on topics of interest and on the psalms and Scripture, Radio Alba hopes to ‘offer reflections on the liturgical calendar and notable anniversaries, giving a voice to people who might otherwise not be heard.’

There are a number of ways to tune into Radio Alba from November 1. For more information on the project, visit Radio Alba’s website at: http://radioalba.org/#contact-us
