Bishop Toal to address clergy peace rally at Faslane

Bishop Joseph Toal of Argyll and the Isles will be among the speakers at the Easter Witness for Peace event at Faslane on Saturday.

Organised by Scottish Clergy Against Nuclear Arms (SCANA), the Witness for Peace event will take place at the gate of Faslane Trident Base from 12noon.

Justice and Peace Scotland are among the groups involved in promoting the event, which offers ‘an opportunity to meet together and to witness our common faith in Jesus, the Prince of Peace, and to underline our belief that nuclear weapons are immoral and they should not be maintained or renewed.’

As well as a short act of worship, with singing and prayers for peace, Bishop Toal will be joined at the event by fellow speakers Rev Sally Fulton (Church of Scotland), and Bruce Kent (vice president of the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament). Short statements against nuclear weapons from a range of churches will also be read out at the event.
