POPE-WITH-SALTIRE

Scots give Pope rousing reception

Huge numbers of Scots have lined the streets of Edinburgh to catch a glimspe of the Pope as he travelled through the capital.

The Pope has recieved a warm welcome from Edinburgh’s inhabitants as he travelled through the city’s streets.

The Holy Father was part of the St Ninian’s day parade through Edinburgh which also featured hundreds of school children, a thousand pipers and actors playing characters from Scotland’s history.

Travelling in his Popemobile the Holy Father was cheered by people waving saltires and Vatican flags.

The Pope then travelled to Cardinal Keith Patrick O’Brien’s residence at St Bennet’s for lunch. Before entering he stopped to greet the crowd outside, shaking hands, signing autographs and blessing a small baby.
