Papal visit ‘worthy’ of event award

Director of the Scottish Catholic Media Office welcomes news of event's nomination in UK awards

The Papal visit to Scotland and England has been nominated as a finalist for this year’s UK Event Awards.

Nominated within the best large event category, Pope Benedict XVI’s visit was organised by the state and the Church with the help many, including WRG Creative Communications.

Peter Kearney, director of the Catholic Media Office, said it was the nomination was a worthy recognition.

“I think that’s a real indication of the professionalism of the whole event and the passion of all those involved,” he said. “Even if it doesn’t win it is still recognition of tremendous effort that went into it.”

Other finalists for this year’s UK Event Awards are the London Pet Show by QD Event for best marketing strategy, the Eurostar High Speed Theatre in the best experiential category and University of Central Lancashire’s UCLan’s Got Talent in the best student event. All are facing stiff competition in their categories.
