Pope blesses SCIAF’s work of love, support…

Holy Father blesses SCIAF ahead of the Bishops’ Conference aid agency’s golden jubilee in 2015

Pope Francis has praised the life-changing work of the Scottish Catholic international development charity SCIAF as it marks its 50th anniversary in 2015.

In a written blessing—sent via the Apostolic Nuncio, Archbishop Antonio Mennini—the Holy Father thanked the Glasgow-based charity for its service to the poor in developing countries and urged it to continue its work in the coming years.

Noting the last 50 years of service to the poor by SCIAF, the blessing called on the charity to ‘continue in this significant work of love and support in the years to come,’ with His Holiness giving all members of the charity and their families and loved ones a special Apostolic Blessing.

Echoing his Lenten message, the Papal blessing said: “We Christians are called to confront the poverty of our brothers and sisters; to touch it, to make it our own and take practical steps to alleviate it…
